Master Bedroom
Cool, Calming & Japandi-Inspired
This recent room transformation blends minimalist elegance with a fresh, calming palette—inspired by the serene simplicity of Japandi style. The result is a space that feels peaceful, balanced, and beautifully styled without being overdone.
Japandi-Inspired Wallpaper with a Twist
To introduce texture and pattern without overwhelming the space, I chose a Japandi-inspired wallpaper in soft, soothing tones. Rather than applying it to an entire feature wall, I took a more subtle approach—splitting the wall with a block-painted section in the middle. This not only softens the look but adds visual interest and balance. It's the perfect solution if you love wallpaper but prefer a lighter touch.
Light, Reflection & Calm
To enhance the sense of space and light, a large round mirror was added above the painted section. Positioned strategically, it reflects light and gives the room a more open, airy feel—perfect for maintaining that cool, calming atmosphere.
Blending the Old with the New
One of the most rewarding aspects of this makeover was working with established furniture. By thoughtfully integrating existing pieces into the new design, I maintained a sense of continuity while giving the space a completely fresh feel. With the right styling, older furniture can feel new again.
Final Thoughts
This makeover is a great example of how small, well-considered details—like splitting wallpaper with paint, incorporating large mirrors, and embracing a Japandi-inspired palette—can completely change the feel of a room. The space now feels relaxed, modern, and effortlessly stylish.
Favourite element
There are a couple. Firstly the mirror. Using a round finish instead of square or rectangle gives it a more softer feel which is wanted in a bedroom. Secondly is the wallpaper split with the block painting. Using such an intricate wallpaper pattern, this can be overwhelming in such a small area. Separating it, gives the room a more interesting aspect.
