Pre-teen bedroom

From childhood dreams to preteen modern design

Children’s bedrooms often reflect a younger, playful style—but as tastes evolve, these spaces can feel outgrown. With a little creativity and thoughtful design, even a familiar bedroom can be transformed into a sophisticated, grown-up retreat. This makeover turned a preteens room into a stylish, mature space, complete with a fresh layout, a double bed, and a striking textured feature wall that combines wallpaper and paint for maximum impact.

Transforming the Space
Preteen wanted a more grown-up room, so I reimagined the space to reflect her evolving style. By carefully assessing the existing furniture, I identified opportunities to rearrange pieces and introduce a few new items, creating a completely fresh look and improved layout.

Upgrading the Bed
One of the key changes was replacing the single bed with a double, instantly giving the room a more mature and sophisticated feel. This adjustment not only enhanced the style but also improved functionality and comfort.

Striking Feature Wall
The butterfly wall décor was removed and replaced with a striking feather-themed wall. Combining wallpaper and paint, this bold focal point adds depth, personality, and a polished, contemporary touch to the room.

Thoughtful Finishing Touches
Carefully chosen details and accessories were added to complement the new design. These finishing touches help tie the room together, creating a cohesive, stylish, and personal retreat.

Final Thoughts
This room is now anything but child like. With modern design elements, personalised details, and a bold feature, it’s been transformed into a chic and inviting bedroom retreat.

Favourite Element
The feature wall as it not only offers one design element but two.  Pairing the paint with textured wallpaper and adding it as landscape instead of portrait gives the room a much larger feel.
